Our client, the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, is seeking a Director of Marketing to join their team! The Director of Marketing & Communications is a member of the Chambers Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for managing the Raleigh Chamber communications strategy. This includes: Brand Management, Event Marketing, General Marketing, Sales Promotion, Public Relations and Media Relations. The Director of Marketing will also lead a team of four marketing and communications professionals. This is a direct hire opportunity located in Raleigh, NC.
Responsibilities
Lead the staff of the Marketing & Communications Department, including hiring, training, evaluation, goal-setting, and goal measurement. Build a productive, cohesive and motivated team.
Manage freelance contractors as needed.
Serve as a member of the Chambers senior staff team.
Provide in-house agency support to all departments of the Chamber.
Ensure all projects are delivered on time and without errors.
Supervise the writing process for the Chamber, overseeing the voice and ensuring a consistent tone that is modern and appropriate to a business audience.
Determine target audiences and produce content for events and chamber communications through email marketing and digital media (video, website, and social media).
Responsible for marketing strategy and production of scripts, presentations, and other materials for in-person and virtual events.
Cultivate relationships with local media to amplify Chamber programming and initiatives.
Prepare press releases, respond to media inquiries, and act as the Chambers spokesperson.
Secure and utilize donated media from local media partners and member agencies to support marketing efforts.
Develop marketing campaigns to amplify Chamber brands and to support membership acquisition and retention.
Secure speaking engagements for the Raleigh Chamber CEO and senior staff to elevate the Chambers mission, areas of focus, initiatives and programs.
Manage a volunteer Communications Committee, chaired by a member of the Chambers executive committee
Provide reports to the Chambers Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Prepare and oversee an annual budget for the department.
Oversee variance reports, financial projections, end of year reporting and barter inventory for the department.
Maintain marketing statistics and metrics to measure the effectiveness and reach of strategies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Education Requirements
Undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising or a related field

7 years or more of related experience
Well-versed in current and emerging communications trends and tools
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong goal orientation
Ability to effectively motivate and manage volunteers
Creativity and willingness to innovate
Ability to be effective individually, as a team member, and as a leader
Energy and capacity commensurate with the fast-paced nature of Chamber work
Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required
