Matador Is Hiring A YouTube Strategist

Our company, Matador Network, is a leading travel media company and lifestyle brand. We run a fast growth, high volume media business and have built a world-class production studio in-house. We’re looking for a YouTube Strategist to lead the curation of our travel videos and the creation of new video content from hundreds of shoots we’ve filmed across the globe over the last decade. 

This role will be responsible for establishing best practices with our creative team, providing strategic insights, and optimizing our existing videos to bring them up to current SEO standards. 

You have:

  • An obsession with video, social media, YouTube, and working with Creators
  • Proficiency and confidence using Dropbox, Google Drive, Asana, and SEO tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs, or similar
  • Experience in a fast-moving and agile environment, such as at a start-up, agency, or media company
  • A deep understanding of Matador’s voice, audience, and brand
  • A love for travel, adventure, and people!
  • Video editing skills are a huge plus, but not required

Things you will be ROCKING:

  • Performing a full SEO audit on Matador Network’s YouTube channels. This includes generating new titles and SEO-optimized descriptions for over 800 existing videos.
  • Organizing Matador’s existing video inventory into new editorial video assets that will excite, engage, and inform millions of travelers on YouTube and beyond
  • Reviewing hours of travel video and identifying special moments that will have an impact and engage an audience
  • Re-curating our existing videos into appropriate channel playlists
  • Developing a roadmap and strategy to drive Matador’s YouTube channel growth based on audience and channel insights
  • Identifying opportunities to edit Matador-owned travel broll into short social assets for our Tiktok and Instagram channels
  • Working with our Editorial and Social Media teams to create a roadmap and strategy to repurpose Matador’s editorial content into video and turn Matador’s YouTube content into short-form content for other channels like Tiktok and Instagram. 
  • Creating best practices for our creative team to develop SEO optimized content
  • Coordinating with the Studios and Editorial teams to schedule content distribution for the channel and the new video content you create with our team of editors
  • Reporting weekly progress to your direct supervisor

You’re really good at:

  • Using your creativity and imagination to curate and create new long-form video assets using footage from dozens of different Matador videos shot across the globe.
  • Maintaining a current understanding of YouTube’s best practices
  • Driving YouTube channel growth over time
  • Implementing expert knowledge and experience in YouTube keyword research and copywriting
  • Organizing and tagging content in a large database
  • Understanding how to best repurpose video content across multiple social platforms (TikTok, IG, FB)
  • Creatively collaborating with team members
  • Articulating ideas clearly in emails and maintaining professional email etiquette
  • Keeping projects moving from start to finish 
  • Staying organized and detail-oriented
  • Effectively prioritizing when juggling multiple tasks 

Nuts and bolts:

  • Full-time hourly independent contractor with monthly compensation. 
  • Remote position (i.e., working from your home office). This is a permanent feature of the job, regardless of the course of the COVID pandemic.
  • Based in a US time zone (working hours:  approximately 9 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Must provide your own computer/workstation setup
